- Airlines – for a particular flight airlines could post a hashtag like #jetblue0719645 and then people could tweet people on the plan about their plans and perhaps plan a cab into a city rather than pay premium prices, comment on the wait time, tell people where the best food in airport is and so on.
- Bars Who needs bluetooth? A bar or club could post a hastag for the evening and people could meet up in the bar based on interests. Not exactly glamorous but how reliable is any other method. Could be used by the bar to find out what sports game people wanted to watch. Use by the DJ to see what song next from his options.
- Restaurants: I know you can google about a restaurant but why not post a hastag for your place and then people can see feedback by searching for the hashtag #tgifbroadway Excellent cocktails but the enchiladas suck.
- Schools: A way for people to find out what is happening for their new school class. At the start of the year the teacher can post a hashtag like #philosophy2134 and then tweet out assignments or use it during the class to get feedback. Change regularly to stop people intruding .
- If you are giving a presentation at an event that already has a hastag why not jsut create one on the spot and put it at the start of your presentation. It allows you to gather comments and in today’s gadget focused environment people are more inclined to tweet than actually speak. Sad but true.
How would you use hashtags?

Nice ideas there but one problem would be that the Twitter has limited the amount of time you can search old tweets. AFAIK it’s about 8 days right now.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the comment didn’t know it was 8ish days…!
I agree on your point but I am thinking specifically for the shorter type of event or presentation. I think Twitter is far from being a searchable or even useful information resource yet (YET!). I have seen a couple of YouTube videos where US campus professors have used the hashtag for their classes and it definitely looks interesting.
One again thanks.
