U2 New Album – But Remember Way Back When

U2 of course have a new album out and the world and their mother are either raving about it or putting it down because they what Bono and what he stands for.  But I am old enough to remember the early days of U2 when they were really just one of the many bands that were in Ireland fighting for a place on the music landscape.

U2 were lucky but here are some bands that were around when they got their lucky break and didn’t quite make it.  First upare a great band still doing the rounds called Something Happens.  I actually bought their records and CDs when they came out first and still occasionally listen to them.  They rocked and still do at rag weeks and other events.

A great Irish band are Aslan who are still trawling around.  Their concerts were great before Christy Dignam went bananas on the hard drugs.  He is clean now thank goodness but their hard edge is gone.

Last but not least in my list is a group that will always have a place in my heart They rocked for the short time they were around.  I was sad when the broke up.
