The week ahead has two expected important pieces of news from Apple. One is the new OS for the iPhone and the second is expected announcement of a new version of the iPhone on June 8th., I personally do not think this is going to happen for the following reasons.
- Apple will not want WWDC which is essentially a developer conference to get mixed up with the release of a new iPhone
- They would prefer to have a separate event for the hardware as I personally think that they have not tied down the feature and profile of the phone or there would have been more leaks on the web.
The upcoming iPhone OS 3.0 software release is meant to have over 1,000 completelynew APIs. Here is some of the online links about the new release of the iPhone OS 2.0 at WWDC.
- PC World Writer John C. Welch writes about some of the more high tech features coming in the release
- CNET writes recently about the push by Apple to developers to release iPhone OS 3.0-compatible apps
- From May 7th Apple no longer accepted any iPhone or iPod touch applications that were not compatible with iPhone OS 3.0
- CNETs predictions for WWDC
