Right now you are dehydrated.  I know it for a fact. Why am I writing a blog post about it?

It’s because it  just shocks me how little water people drink.  In Ireland there is a fascination with drinking tea and since the Celtic tiger coffee.  Some people never drink water.  It is really bad for your body and how your overall health.

I am not going to rabbit on about x glasses per day but even a few glasses 3-4 times a day will help.  Look at your pee.  If it is dark yellow you have not drunk enough water.  I keep a 32 Oz water container on my desk and go through at least 2 of these a day. This doesn’t include water I drink at meals.

If I don’t do this I feel like crap.

Before the Cork marathon last year I had been hydrating for two days and when I went ot collect my pack I did a hydration test.  They told me that I still wasn’t hydrated enough.  Imagine if you don’t drink water how bad you are.  here are some tips.

  • Get a proper sports bottle or container  – fill it in the morning – sip it all day.
  • Keep a similar container filled in your car.
  • Fill a jug of water at meal time – get some ice and lemon slices into it an make it part of your meal t ime
  • Keep a water bottle next to your bed and have a sip before you go to bed.

Now you may end up peeing like a 2 year old but ultimately your will feel better.
