30 Minutes Extra Per Day

Everybody has the same amount of time. Making the best use of it is very important. Like you I love bed ‘ I love waking up in the morning smacking the alarm clock and dozing for another 30 minutes.  However for the past 2 months I have been successfully getting up 30 minutes earlier every morning. Here is how I have used the time

  • Reading my overnight work email
  • Getting a proper breakfast ready for me and and for my kids
  • Doing some quick Spanish revision – I am studying for my BA and use this for quick vocabulary revision
  • Doing some quick housework tasks.

Now I don’t do all of these things at the same time or every morning.  Often I just use the half hour to make a nice coffee and sit at the table planning my day mentally staring out the window into the garden.

This is a huge change from my previous mad rush around the kitchen organising myself and the others around me to get out the door. The point being is that it is hard to get up that extra bit earlier but the benefits are enormous.

You can do it too!

Even if you read on your favourite topic every morning for 30 minutes you will read the equivalent of 10 books on the topic in a year and become an expert in the topic.  All just for 30 minutes each day.  Why not start tomorrow.  Set that alarm clock for a half hour early when it goes off just get up.  Don’t even think about it and you will be up and the day will be yours.  Let me know how you do.

I wish I had your strength of character, Kieran!

Time management is my biggest weakness. If I could conquer that I think I could conquer the world!
