Out Vile Add Ins

I disabled a ton of my Add Ins in Firefox today.  I hadn’t been using any of them since my once off initial use they slowed me down when I started Firefox with prompts for updates .  Things like Blank GMail signatures I dumped as I now use a AutoHotKey to type an abbreviation and out it comes.  ColorZilla I never used as I like to pick my own colours and if I see one on a site I like I can guess close enough and use a similar color.

Delicous Bookmarks  just drove me crazy as I don’t want to bookmark like that at the moment.  I might revisit it but it was intrusive and annoyed me.  FireShot and Firebug I turned off as I only need them from time to time.  Overall the ones that I make the most use of now are Twitterfox and Scribefire (using Scribefire right now to type this blog entry..).

Scribefire is one of my favourite tools to blog with and I have it on all the time and use it to blog to my 9-10 blogs that I maintain (and very few people visit). I also somehow fixed the problem where FireFox was not picking up my spelling errors (of which there are many).

Add Ins are attractive though and I know I will be loading more.  What are your most used?

ASKIMET – Installation

I installed ASKIMET today – I know I should have done it a long time ago.  My spam on one this blog was getting too high (too high for me anyway).  I was getting 10-15 per day and the same on my shopping blog.  It will be interesting to see what impact it has.

It is real easy to install as well especially with the new version of WordPress (2.7).  You need to set up an account on wordpress.com and then it emails you your API key.

Iphone Order Quantities

I went into the O2 shop in Cork yesterday in Patrick Street and asked if they had any Iphones (I knew the answer of course!!!).  They told me no.  I asked how long the waiting list was for the 16Gb and they told me there were 100 people on the waiting list – I nearly laughed in her face.  If that is anything to go by they will be lucky to get in 30 or so.  I think there will be a new version out before people can walk in and buy one off the shelf.
