Calving

Ran 4 miles yesterday – a week after running with Padraig. My calves starting getting sore (cramping) after a mile which is a very bad sign. Need to get at least two runs in before weekend to get some consistency going. Glad I went though as I nearly put it off using excuse 147 which is “I will have lunch and then do it later”.

Paudie and Me

Paudie pushed ahead of me up the hills Sunday as we ran the airport loop I haven’t run all week (ref excuses) and it showed. I huffed and puffed up and down the hills spraying the hedges with my spit. I felt my age. But if I get more runs in I will get a bit fitter as I continually make the same mistake – go through a burst drop off and do it again. I actually think it is bad to do this.

I have also definitely stalled if not slipped on the weight loss due to just simply not doing anything about it last week (or caring). My plan is to lose a kilo this week (2.2lbs for the non metric) and keep going on. Motiviation is hard.

Kerry Runs

Ran on the beach over weekend but only once but for 40 minutes so not bad. End of summer now arriving. Had best intentions to run more after last week getting it together but threw in excuses to make it not happen. Thursday 28th August now will run this evening for sure and get routine back again as the Autumn nights arrive and routine of boys back in school helps. Marathon plan now looks out the window really as with 6 weeks to go there isn’t a chance.

However I am going to run the schedule till then and see where I end up.

Bascically neutral

I would say I have run the cross Douglas Road loop from my house over 200 times in the past 10 years and tonight I did it again. 4.5 miles in 40 minutes. Afterwards I was glad I did it as I nearly opened the bottle of wine and scratched my ass in front of the Olympics. But now a couple of hours later (still opened the wine but run under belt) I realise that I need to up the ante and change the route a bit as I ran the route on auto pilot and that is not good running. So I am going to hit MapMyRun to find a few different 4-5 milers.

I still have to run up that bloody hill every time for the last half mile but my next stage is to get faster and not slob along like I normally do.
