Banana Picking – The Gloves Are Off

I just checked today and was shocked that I have slipped down the rankings for Banana Picking Ireland.  So the gloves are off and I am now focused completely on regaining my position for this competitive keyword.  As some members of Fianna Fail will be out of work in the near future then they may be looking for this type of job so here is my advice for these TDs who will soon be on the dole.

  • You might as well be looking for a banana picking job as any other when you are out of the Dail as there aren’t many jobs for people whose CV includes ruining the country.
  • All the dribble you said about re skilling and training is now largely irrelevant as the skills people have developed are now not wanted.  Currently the streets are full of tradesmen that your Government created as a result of an artificial property boom
  • Planting banana trees is your best bet as Ireland needs some new ideas and approaches and I think that the banana tree is a good symbol as we as country now full of unemployed tradesmen now need to develop a new business strategy that is not boom dependent or flavour of the month

Looking for a job when you don’t have one is a terrible place to be in the current environment.  It is hard to start your own business and make a success when budgets are tight but I sincerely believe that people with an entrepreneurial spirit can flourish and make money.  With the right idea there are prospects for you.  Look at the toy market – every Christmas there are new must have ideas coming through and the products sell out early December.  For example these Zhu Zhu hamsters.  If someone told you that these are the must have item this year you would not believe them.

The product doesn’t have to be a high priced item if it sells high volume.  Take the iPhone and iPad app market.  Peiople are spending money on things like Angry Birds every day. So look around,  maybe Irish bananas isn’t such a bad idea.  Maybe this is a synonym for the way the country is at the moment.

Happy Picking…

Athlone Builders

Builder in Athlone?

So the brother was onto me asking how he would rank for Athlone builders.  First without even looking I can be pretty sure that nobody is searching for that so I am writing this very short post to see how fast I can rank for the phrase Athlone Builder. I can do it for Banana Picking so here goes with the construction trade in the west of Ireland.

I see more and more builders looking for websites when during the Celctic tiger they didn’t even think of this.  With less and less business they now know that having a website for their trades can open up another market for them.   The challenge for a web designer as with most people who are non technical is explaining the process and steps involved.  It is perfectly understandable that someone who has spent 20 years building houses does not understand domain names, hosting and HTML but it is important to make it crystal clear even for our Athlone Friends that there is a lot of work involved and ranking for builders can be hard.

For this specific term Athlone builder it is relatively easy as a quick look in Google Keywords shows that there is no search volume of it.  So by writing a post on the topic, using All in One SEO Pack and there is a good change that with an older domain like this that I will show up in a few days (or less).

Question!

Do you use Google or Bing for search?  I often wonder how many people have a preference or is down to what is loaded in the browser by the OEM!

Looking for Off Shore Hosting Alternatives

If you are thinking of starting to get familiar with website design, blogging or internet development then without a hosting platform you cannot start.  When I first started using the Internet the prices in Ireland were very high so I had to look offshore to the US mainly.  Dreamhost were one of the best prices with as very good reputation and I have been using them now for over 4 years without any problems.

Since then Irish companies like Blacknight have become very competitive but I still use Dreamhost for sites  that I want to target US customers and for quick sites and for experiments as I like their control panel and I can have a domain and hosting usually up an running in a morning.

I use DreamHost for a lot of my sites.  They have a great support service,  excellent pricing and a real easy control panel.  They offer one click install for a large array of blogging platforms, applications and tools.  The link above is an affiliate link so if you click on it I do make some money but I would not recommend them if I was not a fan.  I have over 30 sites with them and so far have not had any problems other than ones caused by myself.
